Aurea Island is a conceptual sustainable island destination designed to bring education, nature, hospitality, community, innovation, and waterfront living together within one connected environment.

 

Developed by Northframe Design Studio, the masterplan explores how a compact island can become more than a destination — it can become a living ecosystem where people, architecture, landscape, and water continuously interact.

 

THE VISION

 

Aurea Island is organized around a simple principle: One island. Six interconnected experiences.

 

The masterplan brings together six complementary districts:

 

01 — Education & Innovation
A next-generation academic environment combining education, research, technology, collaboration, and outdoor learning.

 

02 — Commercial & Hospitality
A vibrant destination for hotels, restaurants, retail, wellness, entertainment, and waterfront experiences.

 

03 — Conservation & Ecology
A protected landscape dedicated to native vegetation, biodiversity, ecological education, and natural recreation.

 

04 — Residential & Community
A landscape-integrated residential district designed around walkability, community spaces, and connection to nature.

 

05 — Mobility & Infrastructure (Air Gateway)
A compact mobility gateway connecting the island through sustainable transportation and essential infrastructure. STOL / eVTOL / seaplane / helicopter / private aviation gateway

 

06 — Marina & Waterfront
A connected waterfront district incorporating marina facilities, water taxis, pedestrian promenades, and leisure activities.

 

EDUCATION DISTRICT

 

At the intellectual heart of Aurea Island is the Education District, a 1-hectare conceptual campus designed for up to 1,200 students.

Inspired by the natural geometry of the Nautilus shell, the architecture follows a continuous spiral form representing learning, growth, exploration, and evolution.

 

The campus incorporates:

• Learning studios
• Research & innovation laboratories
• Library and resource center
• Collaboration spaces
• Auditorium
• Administration
• Outdoor learning environments
• Green roofs and landscaped courtyards

 

The central courtyard forms the social heart of the campus, bringing natural light, vegetation, gathering spaces, and visual connections into the center of the building.

 

A BLUE-GREEN ISLAND

Nature is not treated as leftover space within Aurea Island. It is part of the infrastructure.

 

The masterplan proposes an interconnected green and blue network linking forests, courtyards, pedestrian promenades, waterfront landscapes, ecological areas, and water-based transportation.

 

Electric mobility, walking, cycling, and water taxis are integrated to reduce dependence on conventional transportation while creating a slower and more experiential way to move through the island.
